Sidekick 3 is now official

Today the Sidekick 3 finally became reality, after FCC filings were found at the official FCC website which were added today, 4/22/06. Looks like there is alot of new goodies.
Please note these documents require a PDF viewer such as Adobe Acrobat which can be downloaded here for free.
If you look at the site, it has 5 Cover Letters, entitled:
Then two ID Label/Location Info, entitled: And a Test Report: The interesting things are in the FCC ID label location, which shows a backside picture of the sidekick 3.

Looking at the same higher resolution picture found in the FCC ID label location, you can confirm some of the things that will be in the new Sidekick 3.
Look closely to this higher resolution picture:

You see it says miniSD on the left side, this confirms the fact that the new Sidekick 3 will include a miniSD slot, but it doesn't necessarily mean an mp3 player will be available, but many can speculate it will.
Next, it seems as though this 1.3 megapixel camera will be standard in the Sidekick 3:

Now look at the label on the back of the Sidekick 3:

This shows a Bluetooth ID for the Bluetooth that will be used in the Sidekick 3, so you can see Bluetooth is confirmed.
Looking lastly at the ATCB comments, you will see this:

Due to bluriness(you can click the picture for a higher resolution picture) in the above statement here is what it says:
"Please note that the operational description for the GSM module states that it has EDGE capability. Please note that the test data is not specific enough to determine which modulation scheme was tested. The data appears to be GSM and not EDGE. As such the report does not appear to address EDGE technology. Please either provide the test data for EDGE or please explain how this function is disabled in the device as sold in the US. Please note that this applies to bo the 850MHz and 1900MHz frequency ranges."
Now it talks about the Sidekick 3 has stated EDGE capability, but it says that test data was not recieved about it in the official FCC filing. So this might mean it might be disabled at first or it might not be available in version of the SK3 sold in the US. This is still left to speculation, and doesnt confirm anything.
So to sum things up
- Bluetooth is confirmed
- miniSD is confirmed
- 1.3 megapixel camera is confirmed
- EDGE capability seems stated but not confirmed.
Thanks go to Engadget for the original discovery and article. This link can be found right here.
